Autism Acceptance Month

April is Autism acceptance month, during this time we like to shine a light on those amazing souls in our lives and the lives of other that have autism. Autism Spectrum Disorder or ASD is neurobehavioral disorder in which individuals have may challenges with communications in a social setting, they may have strict routines and behaviors that they prefer to follow to decrease stressors, as well different learning and thinking styles. In the past people thought that Autism was caused by vaccines but through numerous studies and researched it has been proven that there is no connection between those diagnosed with autism and those that have been vaccinated. Take some time to check out the following resources to not only learn more about autism but how you may be able to better understand a friend, family member, or even a stranger.

 

Let’s Go 4 Kids – a local non-profit organization that organizes fun family activities that can be enjoyed by  children with sensitive needs.

Sesame Street and Autism – This resources allow your child to see themselves in the media and to learn more about themselves as well as their peers

Asatonline.org  – The association of science in autism treatment is all about promoting evidence based treatment and enlightenment of Autism

Autism Science Foundation – A non profit dedicated to supporting the research of autism through funding and other assistance to scientist.

Autism Awareness Centre – This site offers various help and resources around the world just choose your region
